Explore the walk
Royal palaces, sea views and a fairy tale that became a symbol of Denmark.
The Little Mermaid is one of Copenhagen’s best-known sights. But the walk to her is every bit as interesting as meeting the heroine of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale.
We will meet in picturesque Nyhavn, walk past its colourful houses and follow the waterfront towards royal palaces, beautiful fountains and an old fortress.
Nyhavn (New Harbour) — the famous harbour with its colourful houses
Amalienborg — the residence of the Danish royal family
The Royal Danish Opera House and the Marble Church
The Gefion Fountain and its striking sculptural group
Kastellet — a well-preserved, star-shaped fortress from the 17th century
The Little Mermaid herself, sitting on her rock by the sea
On our way back, depending on the route and the season, we will stroll along leafy paths, see cherry blossoms when they are in bloom and enjoy views across the strait.
Duration: 2 hours
