Legends of Copenhagen
A first encounter with the city, its history and its secrets.

Rosenborg stands right in the centre of Copenhagen. It is one of the 17th-century historic buildings that have survived to this day and still grace the Danish capital.
The palace itself is small, almost miniature, but incredibly fascinating!
✨ The ground floor still keeps the atmosphere of the royal residence it was several centuries ago.
The apartments are arranged in chronological order and tell the story of the Danish monarchs, starting with Christian IV, who ordered the palace to be built at the beginning of the 17th century.
Over the years, fashion, design and interior styles changed. Each monarch added something of their own, furnishing the rooms to suit their personal taste and the demands of the time.
🪞 Inside you can see royal furniture, tableware, thrones, mirror cabinets and the monarchs’ personal belongings.
And the underground treasury holds real royal treasures: crowns, jewels and other precious objects.
👑 And here is one of the most fascinating facts!
Some of the royal jewels are still worn by the Danish royal family at state occasions. After use, they are returned to the Rosenborg treasury.
Here you can also see Venetian glassware, the silver lions that guard the royal thrones, and objects connected with the history of the Danish monarchy.
🌳 Right behind the palace lies the King’s Garden, a favourite place for walks among Copenhageners. It has a children’s playground and a monument to Hans Christian Andersen.
Nearby are the barracks where soldiers of the Royal Life Guards live and train.
Rosenborg is a place where Danish history truly comes alive before your eyes.
